Steven Moffat’s two-part finale for Matt Smith’s first season as the Doctor has won the Hugo for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form, at the Awards ceremony held at the World Science Fiction Convention in Reno, Nevada, on August 20th.
The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang won the show’s fifth Hugo Award in the category, making Doctor Who, as writer Paul Cornell said in his acceptance speech on behalf of the production team, the most successful show of all time in Hugo terms. The award was presented by Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin, who pointed out that although the nominees are usually from the sphere of television, other forms are eligible, with the song “F*** Me Ray Bradbury” in contention this year.
Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form was won by Christopher Nolan’s Inception, while Best Novel was given to Connie Willis for Blackout/All Clear.
