With the finale of the first season recently aired in the States, Teen Wolf executive producer Jeff Davis has hinted at some future directions for the show’s second season.

Some mild spoilers for the first season follow:

Speaking to Zap2It, Davis said, “As long as we can keep a good balance of humour and romance, I’d really like to amp up the scares next season. I want to make it a little more of a thriller, more scary, a little darker. The trick is that you need to build up to that, so that it’s a slow burn.”

There will be more concentration on Jackson (Colton Haynes) and his issues. “It’s basically the idea of impressing parents who are never even there, making people love you who aren’t there, who you’ve never even met,” Davis explained, although he wouldn’t be drawn on what happened after Derek and Jackson’s encounter in the finale. He also confirmed rumours that there will be a female werewolf next season but wouldn’t say if this would be Holland Roden’s character Lydia or not.

The second season will also feature more scenes between Scott (Tyler Posey) and his mother,  played by Melissa Ponzo.  “I want to see her in danger, so you can definitely expect a little more danger to enter Melissa McCall’s life,” Davis hinted. As for Scott himself, he will still be searching for a cure – and he and Stiles “are going to make a lot of mistakes on the way.”

Series one of Teen Wolf continues on Sky Living in the UK; series two will air in 2012.
