Syfy senior executive Craig Engler has had to make an official announcement denying widespread rumours that the network has cancelled their new series Alphas after only five episodes.

“There is no truth to the rumours some have asked me about that Alphas was cancelled. They are literally filming new eps as I type this,” he posted on the channel’s Twitter feed on August 11 after fans suggested that Eureka wasn’t the only show to be axed in this week’s round of decisions on the future of the network’s shows.

Alphas has so far aired five episodes, gaining just over 2 million viewers for last week’s instalment.
