Although the network passed on his first pilot for a revived version of comedy horror series The Munsters last year, NBC has asked Pushing Daisies‘ creator Bryan Fuller to prepare a second pilot.

NBC’s Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt “liked the general idea,” according to TV Guide, and requested a new version, which will be “an edgier, slightly darker hour-long show.” The pilot is expected to explain how Herman and Lily Munster came to their home at 1313 Mockingbird Lane.

The Munsters originally ran from 1964-66 and spawned various film and TV sequels. Herman’s distinctive look derives from the 1931 Frankenstein film, to which Universal hold the copyright. In tandem with The Munsters revival, NBC is also working on a modern-day retelling of the Frankenstein legend.
