The adventures of Darrin Stevens and his magical wife Samantha are set to entrance a new generation, after CBS commissioned a script for a new TV series of Bewitched from Sony Pictures Television.

The updated show will be overseen by Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher, who were responsible for the 2005 movie version, which itself was about an update of the series. The script will be written by Miss Congeniality‘s Marc Lawrence.

Bewitched ran for eight years from 1964 with Belinda Montgomery as witch Samantha, and Dick York and later Dick Sargent as her put-upon husband, Darrin. A one season spin-off, Tabitha, followed the adventures of their children in 1977 while the soap opera Passions featured a witch called Tabitha, whose parents were called Samantha and Darrin.
