Syfy has announced that Eureka will come to an end with a final six-episode arc to be filmed later this year, once production has wrapped on the fifth season’s 13-episode run.

Confirming the report on Deadline.com, programming chief Mark Stern said: “Bruce Miller and Jaime Paglia have brought a creative vitality to Eureka that has kept it fresh and inventive.  Although we do not have a commitment beyond six episodes for the sixth season, we are hopeful that this will not be the end of the franchise.”

Syfy is currently running the back half of the fourth season in the US.
