Drew Pearce, the creator of the short-lived ITV2 superhero satire No Heroics, is writing a screenplay based on the DC Comic The Mighty for Paramount Pictures.
The Mighty was created by former DC editor Peter Tomasi and artist Keith Champagne. It charts the relationship between a Superman-like hero, Alpha-One, and Gabriel Cole, a human police officer who acts as his handler. When a series of dreadful murders takes place, Cole starts to suspect that Alpha-One may know more about it than he is revealing…
Pearce created an American pilot episode for No Heroics but it wasn’t picked up; however, this led to other Hollywood work, including adapting Marvel Comics’ Runaways, and working with Shane Black on the script for Iron Man 3. The Mighty will be produced by Mary Parent, Cale Boyter and JC Spink.
