It’s been confirmed this evening at the Comic-Con panel in San Diego that Doctor Who will be returning to our screens this August.

Episode 8, Let’s Kill Hitler, will air on August 27 State-side, which would mean that it’s likely to be broadcast the same day in the UK, the Saturday of the Bank Holiday weekend. This would fit with the preview at the British Film Institute, set for Monday August 15.

Speaking at the panel, Matt Smith also hoped to see more of the Doctor’s dark side going forward. “There’s a lot of blood on his hands, and I think that’s why he’s so bubbly and cheery, and has to keep going. If he didn’t, if he stopped, he’d have to contemplate losing all these people. I think there’ll be a lot more.” Karen Gillan added that episode 10 shows more of that facet of the Time Lord. She also confirmed to Zap2it that she expects to be back for series seven next year.

The new trailer for the second half of the season which was premiered at San Diego is below. A two-minute trailer for Toby Whithouse’s episode, The God Complex, was also shown at Comic-Con and can be viewed here.
