Speaking to ComicCon via a video link from Prometheus‘s set in Iceland, director Ridley Scott dropped multiple hints about the content of his new movie and its link to the Alien saga.

Asked whether there would be androids in the film, like Ash and Bishop in the earlier movies, Scott said there “may be two”, but added, “Robots and androids and replicants have become so much of the landscape, so you have to come up with something that hasn’t been seen before. You have to find a notion that makes something fresh.”

As to its link with the Alien movies he began with the 1979 classic, Scott explained that he wanted to make Prometheus to answer a mysterious question that he was surprised no-one had asked about the film. “That could be the centerpiece of what we just completed. That said, that is the only DNA from the first Alien,” he noted. “You’ll hopefully understand what I mean in the last few minutes of the movie.”

Scott also said that he wouldn’t want to work without 3D again, as “It opens up the universe even for the small scenes.”

Prometheus opens next summer.
