After its release was delayed following the MGM bankruptcy saga, The Cabin in the Woods – described by co-writer Joss Whedon as “the horror movie to end all horror movies” – is heading for cinemas, courtesy of Lionsgate.
The movie, directed by Whedon’s co-writer Drew Goddard, will hit cinemas Stateside April 13 next year. It stars Chris Hemsworth, who has shot to fame as Thor since Cabin… was filmed in 2009, alongside Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, Kristen Connolly, Brian J. White, Amy Acker, Fran Kranz and Jesse Williams, and follows a group of friends who discover something horrifying in a quaint cabin.
Whedon is currently shooting The Avengers movie, which is scheduled to be released three weeks later, on May 4, 2012.
