Deadline.com has confirmed that FX has ordered a full 13 episodes of new psychosexual thriller, American Horror Story, for an October premiere.

The series, which has been in development for some time, stars Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton as a couple who move to a new house with their children, after the husband’s adultery has been discovered. However the new house seems to know all about their fears and plays upon them. Jessica Lange (pictured) plays the housekeeper who is perceived very differently by husband and wife.

Created by Glee‘s Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the show derives inspiration from Rosemary’s Baby, Don’t Look Now and The Shining; in a recent interview, Buffy and Angel alumnus Tim Minear, who will be one of the writer producers on the series, described American Horror Story as “an adult cable scary series.”
