Filming on Impossible Pictures’ latest project Sinbad is now underway in Malta. The epic retelling of the story of the iconic mythological character will star newcomer Elliot Knight alongside Lost’s Naveen Andrews, Doctor Who’s Sophie Okonedo and Harry Potter‘s Timothy Spall.

The 13 part adventure for Sky One finds Sinbad on the run from his home town of Basra following the death of his brother. He joins the crew of The Providence and after he and his ship-mates survive a violent and magical storm, “they are forced to band together to face their inner demons, hopes, loves and fears. Our flawed hero embarks on an epic and emotional quest to rid himself of the curse and embrace his destiny. When mystical meets muscle anything can happen….”

Knight describes Sinbad as “a great character for any actor to be able to play: impulsive, adventurous, passionate, loyal and brave; a true hero. His story is packed with action, adventure and fantasy and I am looking forward to the exciting challenge of bringing him to life for a new generation.”

Impossible Pictures’ Executive Producer Sophie Gardiner added: “The cast is sexy, the boat looks fantastic and the sets and costumes are very impressive.  I believe we have a real hit on our hands with Sinbad.”

Directed by Andy Wilson, Sinbad is an Impossible Pictures production for Sky and BBC Worldwide produced with the assistance of the Nine Network Australia. It will air on Sky next year.
