There’s nothing like preparing ahead, and Star Wars supremo George Lucas is certainly making sure that he’s ready to get started on the new live action TV series – just as soon as “a different type of technology” has been created!

Speaking to techie cable channel G4TV, Lucas confirmed that the show, which will be set between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope, is still on hold. Because TV shows need to be made for a tenth of the budget of a feature film, he explained, he doesn’t feel that he can achieve the quality he wants with current technology.

The development of the technology, which Lucas described as “a very, very difficult process”, will make it “economically feasible to shoot the shows.” However 50 hours of scripts – enough for two complete seasons – have now been completed.

The Clone Wars animated series continues  with a fourth season later this year.
