Iron Man 3The 40th annual Saturn Awards, presented by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, were handed out at a ceremony on June 26.

Iron Man 3 won Best Comic-to-Film Motion Picture with its stars Robert Downey Jr. and Ben Kingsley winning Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively. Gravity was the Best Science Fiction Film, while Spike Jonze’s Her won Best Fantasy, and The Conjuring was the Best Horror Film. Jonze also won Best Writing for Her. Best Thriller was World War Z, and the Best International Film was Big Bad Wolf.

In television, Hannibal and the recently cancelled Revolution tied as Best Network TV Series, while The Walking Dead was the Best Syndicated/Cable TV Series. Mads Mikkelsen was Best TV Actor for his role as Hannibal, with The Walking Dead’s Melissa McBride voted Best TV Supporting Actress and her colleague Chandler Riggs acclaimed as Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a TV Series. Chloe Grace Moretz won the equivalent award for movies. Bates Motel’s Vera Farmiga was the Best TV Actress.

In the home video section, the Best DVD or Blu-Ray release was Big-Ass Spider; Chucky: The Complete Collection won Best DVD or Blu-Ray Collection. The Best Classic Release was the Halloween 35th Anniversary Edition, while Star Trek: The Next Generation Seasons 3, 4 and 5 won Best DVD or Blu-Ray TV Series.

The George Pal Memorial Award for Special Effects went to Greg Nicotero; the Dan Curtis Legacy Award went to Bryan Fuller. The Life Career Award went to Malcolm McDowell.
