RamisHarold Ramis, who co-wrote and co-starred in Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, has died aged 69 from complications related to auto-immune inflammatory vasculitis.

Part of Chicago’s Second City improvisational troupe, Ramis worked on the National Lampoon Radio Hour as well as writing and appearing in SCTV. He co-wrote the scripts for Animal House, Meatballs and Caddyshack before Ghostbusters in which he appeared as Dr Egon Spengler. He also wrote and appeared in Groundhog Day. He produced and directed the movie Multiplicity, as well as directing the remake of Bedazzled.

In 2009, Ramis assisted with some script doctoring on the Ghostbusters Video Game, as well as reprising his role vocally.
