Munsters reboot to air as Halloween special

The pilot for Mockingbird Lane, Bryan Fuller’s reboot of the classic TV series The Munsters, is to be aired as a Halloween special in the States, after NBC decided not to proceed with a series order.

It will be teamed with a Halloween themed episode of Grimm to provide what NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke describes as “the perfect pre-Halloween fright-fest.” Describing Mockingbird Lane as an “exciting new take on a memorable series”, she expects it  “will definitely blow out conventional wisdom and create its own legacy.”

Jerry O’Connell stars as Herman Munster, with Portia de Rossi as his wife Lily, and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa.

  1. In some ways I’m glad they didn’t proceed with this as a series — the more I see and hear of it, it just sounds ghastly (and not in a good way!)…
