The fifth episode of this year’s batch of series 7 stories for Matt Smith’s Doctor features the departure of Rory Williams and Amy Pond, as played by Arthur Darvill and Karen Gillan. At the launch of the series tonight at the BFI, it was revealed that the story will be entitled The Angels Take Manhattan.
The line-up therefore is: Asylum of the Daleks, by Steven Moffat; Dinosaurs on a Spaceship by Chris Chibnall; A Town Called Mercy by Toby Whithouse; The Power of Three (formerly Cubed), also by Chibnall; and The Angels Take Manhattan by Moffat. Episodes will begin airing on Saturday September 1st.
Good grief, a Doctor Who title that’s an homage to a Muppet movie title! (I suppose that it, like the Muppet title, could be an homage to the song “I’ll Take Manhattan,” but the use of the definite article and plural noun does suggest it’s a deliberate Muppet nod.)
