After months of speculation, Eon Productions have finally confirmed that Q is returning to the 007 series after a decade’s absence.
Ben Whishaw will be playing the Secret Service armourer. According to the official release, the role was first played by Peter Burton in Dr No, followed by Desmond Llewelyn from From Russia With Love to The World is Not Enough, and John Cleese in Die Another Day (Cleese appeared as Llewelyn’s assistant in the previous film and was promoted after Llewelyn’s death in a car crash.)
“It’s a real thrill to confirm the return of Q in Skyfall played by the enormously talented, Ben Whishaw. We are delighted to have this beloved character back in the series,” producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said.
I still maintain that they should’ve considered John de Lancie for the part. Jus’ sayin’…
